Does anyone really enjoy this run/hide/cower gameplay? I guess it makes it entertaining to watch ‘let’s play’ youtubers squeal. It’s the same thing over and over and even if I didn’t nope like a scaredy-cat it just gets tedious. In terms of gameplay mechanics, I absolutely hate the chase/hide thing in these games. Simon’s reaction at the end showed he remained clueless and selfish and hadn’t developed or grown at all. I’d figured out the main conceit of the game (status of protagonist) almost immediately after the brain scan, and the story didn’t really move on from then. Without wishing to deliberately offend everyone who loved it :D, I confess I thought the story was a bit meh. I finished watching that SOMA playthrough. The story takes a while to pay off, but pay off it does. It’s bugging me that there are probably a dozen other excellent games of this ilk that I’m completely forgetting about. It inserts the names of your Steam friends in at certain points, which led one of my Steam friends once to enquire if I was involved in the making of the game! This led to me embarrassingly contacting the devs to ask why my name was in there, and they revealed all. He also reads things in a listenable way, because it appears one of the unwritten laws of Let’s Plays is that you must read things really slowly in a stilted voice like you’re at primary school drama class. I can recommend it, he really gets into the story and doesn’t dash through it. As for playthroughs, after I’d beaten the game I wanted to experience it through someone else’s eyes (and I have never done that with any other game) so I watched a 'tuber called Christopher Odd’s playthough. Jill, Naia, Leon and others get paired up with Tyrants as they attempt to solve espionage, murders, serial killers, DNA theft and abuse in Arrkoth Facility.I watched the first hour of the playthrough of Soma on youtube and I have to say I would never play this - there’s no way I’d experience anything except a desperate need for it to be over. When Feelings sparks between Tyrants and Humans, it creates complex interactions. He meets Naia who makes him question how he views himself and Tyrants. Leon Kennedy who comes to the facility for his own investigation and is conflicted on how he sees Tyrant and BOWs. Naia becomes friends with Jill and Nemesis - creating and interesting dynamic between humans and Tyrants. Nemesis, himself, is more than what a Tyrant should be and makes everyone around him question him as he questions his own existence. What happens is a relationship and friendship with Nemesis that makes her confront her old demons, especially being under Wesker. In the midst of this, Jill Valentine hears of Nemesis's presumed survival in Arrkoth and goes to investigate her old foe. She gets accepted as a novice teacher and attempts to fit in Arrkoth Facility, a Facility designed for BOWs and Tyrants. Naia Eve Nazari gets hired by Blue Umbrella to work on their research concerning Tyrants and BOWs knowing about Social Learning, Culture and Empathy.
